Welcome to the
NTNU Cell & Molecular Biology Group

The NTNU Cell and Molecular Biology Group (CMB) is headed by professor Atle Bones. The group studies various fundamental cellular and molecular processes using organisms such as the plant Arabidopsis thaliana and algae. Particular focus is put on the study of plant development, plant-insect interaction, the glucosinolate-myrosinase system, signalling mechanisms and vesicular transport.

At CMB we aim to use the systems biology approach. This means integrating different types of studies to form a complete picture of the biological processes. Over the last 5 years, CMB has been active in the fields of metabolite profiling, molecular imaging, confocal microscopy, biochemical/protein analysis, transcriptional profiling and bioinformatics. CMB also hosts the Norwegian Arabidopsis Research Centre (NARC), which is one the national technology platforms organized by the functional genomics (FUGE) initiative of the Norwegian Research Council.
